Professor’s research debunks popular myth of growing

fundamentalist Islam in Europe

Fear and in some cases panic over Europe’s alleged march toward Islamicization is “misplaced” and being fed by those who want the world to believe radical fundamentalism is widespread, according to new research by Associate Politics Professor Jytte Klausen.

Despite some claims that the region’s population is quickly becoming overwhelmingly Muslim, Klausen said the numbers and prevailing political opinions don’t support that.

“The diversity of who Muslims really are is actually becoming more apparent,” said Klausen in a recent interview. “They come from all over the political spectrum and the religious spectrum.”…
